1987-76 Authorizing Purchase of Eight Tsunami Warning Sirens.KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NO. 67-76-R A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY AUTHORIZING PURCHASE OF EIGHT TSUNAMI WARNING SIRENS. WHEREAS, the recent earthquakes and tsunami warnings have revealed the very serious logistic concerns of providing early tsunami warnings to large numbers of people in the Moneehka Bay, Women& Bay and Chiniak Areas: and WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough and the City of Kodiak identified siren locations which should provide warning to everyone in the Kodiak vicinity of a tsunami) and WHEREAS, the State of Alaska is predicting an increase level of earthquake and tsunami activity in the Gulf of Alaska for the foreseeable future; and WHEREAS, several AL4000 sirens were purchased by the City and Borough in 1967 and the purchase of the same type of siren is highly desirable. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly that the Mayor and staff are authorized to purchase and install eight .SII additional tsunami warning sirens according to the previously adopted siren payout plan in an amount not to exceed 690,000 with funds to be drawn from the '.' General Fund balancer and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the bid by Spencer Electric to provide eight AL4000 sirens in an amount not to exceed 670,500 is Accepted.
