A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY SUPPORyING
SUBSISTENCE OF AFOGNAK ELK FOR SENIOR CITIZENS IN PORT LIONS.
WHEREAS, the people of Port Lions (and Afognak before /<he tidal
wave) have historically used elk for food since the elk were panted on
Afognak Island In the 1930'sr and/and

WHEREAS. elk hunting mons and bar• Dseana increasingly
restrictive making it difficult for Port Lionto harvest elk in
recent yearsr and
WHEREAS, recent budget restrictionsders of Port Lions
make the subsistent• elk vital to the elders'nutritional
requirements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the island Borough
Assembly supports Port Lions real ants' repoges in subsistence
elk hunting regulations to pro rid• for lhei alders.
