RESOLUTION NO. 89-57-R
A RESOLUTION CALLING FOR THE NOMINATION OF
CANDIDATES FOR A CHARTER COMMISSION AND SET ING FORTH
FILING DEADLINES AND PROCEDURES FOR MAKING MINATIONS
WHEREAS, on August 3, 1989, the KodiakIslan Borough Assembly
adopted Resolution No. 89-56-R, entitled "A ResolutI acing the Election of
a Charter Commission on the October 1989 Ballot", 4,*_0
WHEREAS, the Assembly should issue a_ for nominations to the
Charter Commission and specify filing deadlines and procedures for making
nominations;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEy the Assembly of the
Kodiak Island Borough that:
1. The Charter Commission shall consist of eleven (11) voters,
three (3) of whom are reg.{ nts elected from the Borough at
large, five (5) of whom �r residents of, and elected from, the
area outside the City afY odiak, and three (3) of whom are
residents of, and from, the City of Kodiak.
2. A person is eligible o be nominated as a candidate for the
Charter Commis if that person is a voter of the area from
which election ought and has been a voter of the area for
at least one immediately preceding the date the nomination
petition is fi

3. Charter mission candidates shall be nominated by petition
signed at least ten (10) voters of the area for which the
ca i seeks election, or by a number of voters from the
a ual to at least 10 percent of the number of votes cast

4. omination petitions shall be filed with the Borough Clerk not
later than 5:00 p.m. on August 25, 1989. If after the review
of the nominating petition the petition contains an insufficient
number of qualified signatures, the candidate shall have until
