RESOLUTION NO. 89-03-R
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING PLACEMENT OF A FULL TIME
ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION
ENVIRONMENTAL FIELD OFFICER IN KODIAK
WHEREAS, there are many projects on Kodiak Island that require
,investigation and review by an environmental field officer (EFO), and
WHEREAS, the current level of development in this community has
.changed the need for a local EFO to a demand, and
WHEREAS, it is no longer practical or cost effective to have local
environmental issues handled through Anchorage, and
WHEREAS, the Department of Environmental Conservation has
included an EFO position for Kodiak in the budget submitted to the Governor;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough
Assembly that the Alaska Legislature is requested to appropriate the
'necessary funds and authorize an environmental field officer position in
:Kodiak, new or transfer, and to support the Alaska Department of
Environmental Conservation in their efforts to better respond to the
'environmental needs of Alaska's residents while supporting the continued
,economic development of the Kodiak area.
