1988-53 Amending the Area to be Included in the Annexation of Property on the Alaska PeninsulaBy: Mayor Selby Recommended by: PBZ Director Introduced: 8/18/88 Adopted: 8/18/88 KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NO. 88-53-R A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY AMENDING THE AREA TO BE INCLUDED IN THE ANNEXATION PETITION OF TERRITORY ON THE ALASKA PENINSULA WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly approved Resolution 88-33-R on May 5, 1988, directing the Borough Mayor to cause a petition annexation to be prepared and submitted; and WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly has identified itional areas that are appropriate for inclusion in the annexation petition; WHEREAS, the people of the Kodiak Island Borough have cultural, 'economic and political ties to the expanded annexation area; and WHEREAS, the area is important to the economy of the Borough especially the fish resources in state waters, which are heavily fished by Kodiak's fishing fleet; and WHEREAS, Alaska law provides procedures for considering and effecting boundary changes where it is in the public interest to do so; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough iAssembly that the Mayor is directed to amend the area to be included in the Petition for annexation so that the expanded Borough would be generally described as: All those lands on the Alaska Peninsula that drain into Shelikof Strait and/or the Pacific Ocean extending from the Kenai Peninsula Boundary on the north, southwesterly to a point due west of Cape Kumllk, thence east to Cape Kumlik, thence to a point three (3) geographical miles west of Sutwik Island, thence to a point three (3) geographical miles south of the Semidi Islands, thence to a point three (3) geographical miles south of Chirikof Island, thence to a point three (3) geographical miles south east of Sitkinak Island, west of a line that is three (3) geographical miles seaward from the Pacific coast of Sitkinak, Geese, Two Headed, Sitkalldak, Ugak, Kodiak, Long, Spruce, Marmot, Afognak, Shuyak, and East Amatuli Islands, and west of a line extending extending from a point three (3) geographical miles east of East Amatuli Island due north to the Kenai Peninsula Boundary .
