1988-35 Pledging up to $100,000 for Removal of the Pier III Shoal.KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NO. 56-36-R A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY PLEDGING UP TO 6100,000 FOR REMOVAL OF THE PIER 111 SHOAL. WHEREAS. the shoal in St. Paul Harbor which is about 1100 it. from Pier III is a navigational hazard; and WHEREAS, this shoal is a major problem during docking maneuvers of ships arriving at Pier III; and WHEREAS, Federal funds are available to PAY for 66% of the cost of removing the shoall and WHEREAS. Sea Land Service. Inc. and American President Lines. Ltd., the two primary commercial carriers which use Pier III, are willing to contribute 6100.000 each to the removal of the shoal; and WHEREAS, the City of Kodiak, the owner of Pier III, is willing to contribute 6100,000 to the removal of the shoal. NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island Borough i Assembly pledges up to 6100,000 for the removal of this shoal and urges the Alaska Legislature to appropriate 6200,000 toward this project.
