A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY IDENTIFYING THE
KODIAK REGIONAL AQUACULTURE ASSOCIATION AS THE MANAGING AGENT FOR THE KARLUK
,LAKE FERTILIZATION PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly has Appropriated 660.000

'!for FY 88 for continuation of the Karluk Lake Fertilization Project, and
'j WHEREAS, the State of Alaska has appropriated no funds for this
'project, and
WHEREAS, the funds sero available to the Kodiak Regional Aquaculture
i
Association subject to the association raising funds of more than 660,000, and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Regional Aquaculture Association
has raised fund•
in excess of $60,000 and has offered to manage the use of the 660,000 to
Iaccomplish the project including preparing the contract specification, award of
i
contracts and contract compliance, and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Regional Aquaculture Association is the only
'state authorized aquaculture association in the Borough and should therefore be
selected as a sole source contractor,
WHEREAS, the management by the Kodiak Regional Aquaculture
'.I Association would result in direct involvement in salmon enhancement by the

i'Aesoclatlon, lower overhead cost and Increase benefits to the entire community.
NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly
that the $60.000 appropriated for the Karluk Lake Fertilization Project is
!available to the Kodiak Regional Aquacultura Association in the role of

!managing agent subject to the normal terms and conditions of a management
�Ia6reement to be negotiated by the mayor.
