1985-24 Supporting Continued Funding of the Essential Air Service Program.KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NO. 85-24-R A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY SUPPORTING CONTINUED FUNDING OF THE ESSENTIAL AIR SERVICE PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the primary air carrier to the villages and bush on Kodiak Island is a recipient of federal funding under the U. S. Department of nsportation Essential Air Service Program, and WHEREAS, this program was approved by Congress to continue until at least 1988, and WHEREAS, the air carrier on Kodiak Island would not be able to conti provide regular service without this program, and WHEREAS, this service is the only transportation link to Kodiak or her points since there are no highways to these locations and no regular fer rvice except to Kodiak and Port Lions, and WHEREAS, President Ronald Reagan has proposed to eliminate this ram in fiscal year 1986, and WHEREAS, elimination of this program and subsequently air service to majority of Kodiak Island would cause an extreme hardship for residents of he Kodiak Island Borough and the local governments on Kodiak Island. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly t the United States Congress is urged to fully fund the Essential Air Servi gram for fiscal years 1986-88. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent to following: The Honorable Ronald Reagan, President of the United States The Honorable George Bush, Vice President of the United States The Honorable Thomas P.
