A regular meeting of the Joint Building Code Review Committee was held on Thursday,..0.18,_2012,

Road. The meeting was called to order at 4:10 p.m.
Present were committee members Scott Arndt, Scott Bonney, John Butler, Gregg Hacker, and ex-
officio Jerrol Friend. Staff members present were Building Official Doug Mathers, Ted Hanson, and
Borough Deputy Clerk Marylynn McFarland.
Absent was committee member Ed Mahoney, and ex- officio member Randy Bishop.
A. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
ARNDT moved to approve the agenda.
Motion carried unanimously.
B. APPROVAL OF MINUTES — October 18, 2012

ARNDT moved to approve the meeting minutes of October 18, 2012.
Motion carried unanimously.
C. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
1. Adoption of the 2012 International Residential Code.
ARNDT moved to adopt the 2012 International Residential Code (IRC) as it applies to the Kodiak
Island Borough Code, Chapter 15.
Mr. Mathers reported on his discussion with Alaska Housing Finance Corporation and the standards
different Alaska communities were using for residential energy efficiency.
Board members discussed the option of adopting the 2012 IRC and working on alternatives for
Chapter 11 Energy Efficiency at a later date.
ARNDT moved to amend 15.10.080 title to read Use of Local Sitka Spruce Allowed in One and Two
Family Dwelling.
Motion to amend carried unanimously.
Motion to adopt the 2012 International Residential Code as amended carried unanimously.
ARNDT moved to adopt the 2012 International Residential Code as it applies to the City of Kodiak
code, Chapter 14.

Motion carried unanimously.
D. NEW BUSINESS — None.
E. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS
Board members discussed a meeting to address the Energy Efficiency code.

A work session was scheduled for Tuesday, November 13, at 4 p.m. in the Borough Conference
Room

BUTLER moved to adjourn the meeting.
Motion carried unanimously.
