Assembly Special Meeting
September 22, 2012
A special meeting of the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly was held on September 22, 2012, in the
• Borough Conference Room of the Kodiak Island Borough Building, 710 Mill Bay Road. The meeting
was called to order at 11:35 a.m.
Present were Mayor Jerome Selby, Assembly members Carol Austerman, Tuck Bonney, Dave
Kaplan, Chris Lynch, Mel Stephens, and Louise Stutes. Staff members present were Administrative
Official Bud Cassidy and Clerk Nova Javier.
KAPLAN moved to excuse Assembly Member Friend who was absent due to personal leave.
VOICE VOTE ON MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
CITIZENS' COMMENTS
None.
CONSIDERATION OF MATTERS IN THE CALL FOR THE SPECIAL MEETING
A. EXECUTIVE SESSION
1. Borough Manager Selection.
STUTES moved to convene into executive session to discuss the Borough Manager
selection process which qualifies for executive session as a matter which would tend to
defame or prejudice the character or reputation of any person.
ROLL CALL VOTE ON MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY: Austerman, Bonney, Kaplan, Lynch,
Stephens, and Stutes.
The Mayor invited the Borough Assembly, Administrative Official, and Clerk's Office Staff into
executive session.
After the vote, Mayor Selby recesses the regular meeting and convenes the executive session.
Upon returning from the executive session, Mayor Selby reconvenes the regular meeting and
announces no action is to be taken as a result of the executive session. Direction was given to
move ahead with the rest of the process of selecting the borough manager.

ADJOURNMENT
AUSTERMAN moved to adjourn the meeting.
ROLL CALL VOTE ON MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY: Bonney, Kaplan, Lynch, Stephens,
Stutes, and Austerman.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:15 p.m.
