CALL TO ORDER
CHAIR SIROFCHUCK called to order the April 27, 2010 Parks & Recreation meeting to order at 7 p.m. in
the KIB School District Conference Room.
ROLL CALL
Committee members present were Mike Sirofchuck, Pam Foreman, Hans Tschersich, Patrick
Saltonstall, Andy Schroeder, Sandra West, and Willy Bethea. Excused members were Jeff Huntley,
Casey Janz, and Peggy Rauwolf.
A quorum was established.
COMMITTEE MEMBER SALTONSTALL MOVED to excuse Jeff Huntley, Casey Janz, Peggy Rauwolf, and
Rick Lindholm.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA
COMMITTEE MEMBER SCHROEDER MOVED to approve the April 27, 2010 agenda.

COMMITTEE MEMBER TSCHERSICH MOVED to approve the April 13, 2010 Parks & Recreation
Minutes.

AUDIENCE COMMENTS AND APPEARANCE REQUESTS
There were no audience comments and appearance requests.
OLD BUSINESS
A) Trails Plan
Cassidy stated it's getting to crunch time for advertising the May 113th Trails Plan public meeting. In
your packets are the meeting flyers, the greetings that Joe Gilpin will be sending out by email, and the
list of email addresses from any and all meetings we've had. We'll do PSA's on the radio and get folks
on the Talk of the Rock. Cassidy will find out about sandwich signs.
CHAIR SIROFCHUCK stated he is scheduled to be on KMXT at 12:30 -1:00 on Tuesday, May 11Th.
In response CHAIR SIROFCHUCK inquiry if anyone is interested in participating on radio, Cassidy said
he can make it and Foreman is going to try to be there.
Staff was directed to email to the committee the flyer and the blurb they came up with that is on the
website.
Cassidy will call KVOK to find out what the charges are to do the Hotline on May 17th.

NEW BUSINESS
There was no new business.
A) Letters in Support of the Proposed Bike Path & Map
CHAIR SIROFCHUCK said he went to both P &Z meetings and he spoke on the top 4 items on the
committee's CIP List: Parks & Fields Plan; Fields emphasizing the KANA field; Mill Bay Beach; and the
bike path. They are continuing their discussion of the CIP at their May meeting and Sirofchuck is
planning on speaking again at that meeting.
COMMITTEE MEMBER WEST stated she got Coast Guard permission to clear the path from the end of
the runway in through Signal Hill all the way to the main gate which is outside the gates. Cassidy is
working with her on an encroachment application to request permission to encroach on the State right
of way from Pier 3 on the other side of the guardrail all the way along Dead Man's Curve to the end of
the guardrail on the ocean side.

REPORTS
The Parks & Recreation meeting schedule: May 11, 2010 regular meeting at 7 p.m. in the KIB School
District conference room, May 18, 2010 Trails Plan Public Meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the North Star School
Gymnasium, May 25, 2010 regular meeting at 7 p.m. in the K1B School District Conference Room.
VICE CHAIR FOREMAN requested to be excused on May 25th.
COMMITTEE MEMBER SALTONSTALL requested to be excused on May ll & May 18 : he'll be in
Alitak.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS
COMMITTEE MEMBER'S COMMENTS
Hans Tschersich said the Audubon Society just published the hiking schedule for the summer and you
can pick one up at the Visitor's Center.
COMMITTEE MEMBER WEST said she is excited about the bike path.
ADJOURNMENT
COMMITTEE MEMBER SCHROEDER MOVED to adjourn.
