9 A RESOLUTION OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
10 IDENTIFYING RESPONSIBILTIY FOR THE MAINTENANCE
11 OF THE PROPOSED PEDESTRIAN AND BIKE PATHWAY

13 WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough has submitted a pedestrian and bike pathway
14 project that has been included in the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program
15 (STIP); and
16
17 WHEREAS, this nomination identifies the health benefit to the community that a
18 pedestrian and bike pathway will provide; and
19
20 WHEREAS, this project has been reviewed by the Department of Transportation (DOT)
21 and has scored high in their evaluation process; and
22
23 WHEREAS, DOT requires that the responsibility for the maintenance of this facility be
24 performed by the Kodiak Island Borough; and
25
26 WHEREAS, the level of maintenance is to be determined and is at the discretion of the
27 Kodiak Island Borough; and
28
29 WHEREAS, this project has also been included in the Kodiak Island Borough's
30 legislative priority list (CIP) and sent on to the Governor's Office and our legislative
31 delegation as a statement of the community's capital improvement priorities.

33 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
34 BOROUGH that the Kodiak Island Borough will be the responsible party to provide
35 maintenance on the proposed pedestrian and bike pathway.
