BAYSIDE FIRE STATION ADDITION
Dowland Construction is underway with the new addition to the existing fire station. The project was
scheduled to be completed in late October, however problems with the metal building manufacturer have
delayed the project several months and the new facility will not be available to store equipment this
winter as planned. We have filially received drawings from the building manufacturer and they are
currently under review. Dowland is standing by to start foundation work as soon as drawings are
approved and a building permit is issued. A revised schedule and completion date will be forthcoming
EAST ELEMENTARY WINDOWS SEISMIC UPGRADE/HVAC UPGRADES
Wolverine Construction completed the windows seismic upgrade and painting. The cabinet heat and
ventilation units are in route and will be installed upon arrival. While there was some inconvenience, we
were able to supply temporary heat and occupy the building in time for start of school.
OLD HARBOR GYM ADDITION
Wolverine Supply has mobilized on site and painting of the main school should be completed this week.
The school will retain use of the gym during the school year. A barge is currently in route from Homer
with concrete, rebar and equipment needed to begin construction of the addition. The project is scheduled
to be completed next summer.
OLD POOL ROOF AND VENTILATION UPGRADE
Brechan Enterprises was awarded the contract for the roof and air handler replacement. Demolition of the
old roof and air handler is complete and the new roof is currently being installed. Unfortunately we have
received numerous complaints from occupants as asphalt is used as adhesive for the insulation and the
smell from the tar pot has been a problem for some. Fortunately, this portion of the work is within 2 days
of completion. This work was scheduled to be completed in September but will extend into October.
WOODLAND ACRES PAVING
Brechan Enterprises began work on the project September 4. Work includes cleaning ditches, preparing
subgrade, raising utilities, and laying D1 base in preparation for paving. Sharatin Road is scheduled for
paving next week. Prep work on Puffin, Curlew and Gull continues however fmal paving will likely not
be completed until next summer.
CHC ADDITION TO PKIMC
The project is complete with the exception of issues with the handicap parking. Prochaska and Associates
is currently working on a new design that complies with ADA and USDA requirements.
KHS UNDERGROUND FUEL TANK REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT
Approximately 1,500 cubic yards of contaminated soil must be removed from stockpiles on site. Tellus,
Inc has completed and submitted a work plan to ADEC for approval. I am currently soliciting quotes for
trucking and placement of the contaminated material at a site at the east end of Selief Lane.
