12 A RESOLUTION OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
13 ADOPTING THE COMPREHENSIVE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY
14 (CEDS) 2010 AS WRITTEN

16 WHEREAS, the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce has entered into a contract with the City of
17 Kodiak and the Kodiak Island Borough to provide economic development planning and
18 leadership for the City of Kodiak and the other communities of Kodiak Island; and
19
20 WHEREAS, the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce has established an Economic Development
21 Committee to develop and review a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy; and
22
23 WHEREAS, the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce is the recognized economic development
24 organization on Kodiak Island; and
25
26 WHEREAS, the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce will assist the communities of Kodiak Island
27 in the planning and development of the strategies and activities that those communities find are
28 necessary to successfully engage in pursuing desired economic growth and business
29 development which is compatible with local needs and lifestyles; and
30
31 WHEREAS, the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce believes that the community of Kodiak
32 should become a regional Hub for Southwest Alaska; and
33
34 WHEREAS, the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce is actively pursuing opportunities to work
35 with other communities in the Southwest region and has worked cooperatively with the
36 Southwest Alaska Municipal Conference; and
37
38 WHEREAS, the adoption of a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy is the first
39 step in the process of taking advantage of the many grant and assistance programs available
40 through the U. S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration.

42 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
43 BOROUGH THAT the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy is adopted as
44 submitted by the Economic Development Committee, and

46 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK
47 ISLAND BOROUGH THAT the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy be
48 submitted to the U. S. Economic Development Administration for their review and adoption.
