ACCEPTING STATE HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT PROGRAM
PART I (SHSGP) FUNDS AND IDENTIFYING HOW
THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH INTENDS TO UTILIZE SUCH FUNDS
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough applied for a grant from the Alaska Division of
Homeland Security (DHS) to acquire equipment for first responder preparedness; and
WHEREAS, the DHS through the State has approved a grant in the amount of
$ 138,151 based on our grant application, which provides for both equipment
acquisition and a community wide preparedness training; and
WHEREAS, acceptance of the grant award is necessary in order to utilize the funds
to pay for first responder equipment and to exercise our regional emergency response
capabilities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH that the Borough Manager is hereby authorized to accept the Federal
Emergency Management Agency funds in the amount of $138,151 and to administer
those funds to acquire equipment for first responder preparedness and to provide for
a community wide preparedness training.
