2003-28 Soil & Water Conservation Grant FundsA RESOLUTION OF TI IE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGI I ASSEMBLY ACCEPTING KODIAK SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT GRANT FUNDS AND IDENTIFYING HOW THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH INTENDS TO USE SUCH FUNDS WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough on behalf of the Mission Lake Tide Gate Service Area applied for a grant from the Kodiak Soil and Water Conservation District (KSWCD) for the relocation and rebuilding of the 40 year -old Mission Lake tide gate; and WHEREAS, the local board of the KSWCD has played a key role in identifying issues associated with water quality within the Kodiak urban area; and WHEREAS, Mission Lake has been identified by the KSWCD as a water body that contributes to the community's recreation and aesthetic value; and WHEREAS, the Mission Lake tide gate is also responsible for providing habitat for Coho salmon; and WHEREAS, the KSWCD approved a grant in the amount of $ 10,000; and WHEREAS, acceptance of the grant award is necessary in order to utilize the funds for the Mission Lake Tide Gate; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH that the Borough Manager is hereby authorized to accept the Kodiak Soil and Water Conservation District Grant funds in the amount of $ 10,000 and to administer those funds for construction of the Mission Lake Tide Gate.
