A RESOLUTION RATIFYING AND CERTIFYING THE RESULTS
OF THE SPECIAL BY -MAIL ELECTION HELD MARCH 4, 2003 ON THE QUESTION OF
ESTABLISHING THE TRINITY ISLANDS SUBDIVISION STREETLIGHTS SERVICE AREA TO
PROVIDE CONSTRUCTION, OPERATION, AND MAINTENANCE OF STREETLIGHTS
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough held a Special By -Mail Election on March 4, 2003; and
WHEREAS, fifty -eight ballots were mailed to the registered voters in the Trinity Islands
Subdivision on February 7, 2003 on the following question:
"Shall the Kodiak Island Borough Exercise the Powers Necessary to Provide Construction,
Operation, and Maintenance of Streetlights in the Trinity Islands Subdivision within the
area indicated on the attached map ?" YES ❑ NO ❑ ; and
WHEREAS, the Canvassing Board of the Kodiak Island Borough met on March 27, 2003 and
tallied the votes; and
WHEREAS, Twenty three ballots were cast of which two were rejected as not witnessed, one
was rejected as not signed by the voter, and one was rejected as postmarked after the day of the
election; and
WHEREAS, the Canvass Board tallied the remaining 19 ballots as follows:
Yes Votes: 16
No Votes: 3
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
THAT:
Section 1: The Assembly finds that the Special By -Mail Election of March 4, 2003 was validly
held and hereby ratifies and certifies the results of the election.
Section 2:
Kodiak Island Borough, Alaska
The question of: "Shall the Kodiak Island Borough Exercise the Powers Necessary
to Provide Construction, Operation, and Maintenance of Streetlights in the Trinity
Islands Subdivision within the area indicated on the attached map ?" was approved
having received a majority of yes votes.
