A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE KODIAK STATE PARKS CITIZENS' ADVISORY
BOARD FY2003 STATE BUDGET REQUEST
is rict state parks provide outdoor recreational opportunities for
citizens of the Kodiak Island Borough; and
WHEREAS, state parks in the Kodiak district protect natural resources for the
enjoyment, education, study, and use by the public; and
WHEREAS, World War II's unique history to Kodiak and Alaska is preserved in Fort
Abercrombie State Historic Park; and
WHEREAS, camping and picnic facilities are available in Kodiak district state parks for
tourists and other visitors to Kodiak; and
WHEREAS, state parks contribute income to the economy of the Kodiak Island
Borough; and
WHEREAS, state park facilities in the Kodiak district are in need of repair and
improvements; and
WHEREAS, state funding is requested by the Kodiak State Parks Citizens' Advisory
Board to accomplish needed repairs and improvements;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY
THAT the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly supports the increase in state funding in
the FY03 state budget for repairs and improvements to Kodiak District State Parks.
Notification of support shall be given by copy of this resolution to State of Alaska
Governor Tony Knowles, Senator Alan Austerman, and Representative Gary Stevens.
