2001-48 Selief Lane Trail Project• `
WHEREAS, the community needs pedestrian access between the Selief Lane Project
and the existing bike trail at Von Scheele Way; and
WHEREAS, there is sufficient room within the existing Selief Lane Right -of -way to
provide for the trail; and
WHEREAS, the existing project for a trail between East Elementary School and Main
Elementary School has been found to be a difficult and expensive project and the
proposed Selief Lane trail would be a reasonable alternative; and
WHEREAS, there is strong community support for non - vehicular access between the
resdential areas around Selief Lane and the regional shopping area off of Von Scheele
Way, the Community College, and East Elementary School;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY
that it is requested that the State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public
Facilities enter into the planning, design, and construction of an approximately one -half
mile trail connecting the end of Selief Lane with Von Sceeele Way on the Statewide
Transportation Improvement Program for the Kodiak Island Borough.
