A RESOLUTION OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
D OVERALL
COMPREHENSIVE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY (CEDS)
FOR FISCAL YEAR 2001
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce has entered into a contract with the
City of Kodiak and the Kodiak Island Borough to provide economic development
planning and leadership for the City of Kodiak and the other communities of Kodiak
Island; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce is the recognized economic
development organization on Kodiak Island; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce has established an Economic
Development Committee to develop and review a Comprehensive Economic
Development Strategy; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce will assist the communities of Kodiak
Island in the planning and development of the strategies and activities that those
communities find are necessary to successfully engage in pursuing desired economic
growth and business development which is compatible with local needs and life- styles;
and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce believes that the community of Kodiak
should become a regional Hub for Southwest Alaska; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce is actively pursuing opportunities to
work with other communities in the Southwest region and has worked cooperatively
with the Southwest Alaska Municipal Conference; and
WHEREAS, the adoption of a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy is the
first step in the process of taking advantage of the many grant and assistance
programs available through the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development
Administration;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Assembly of the Kodiak Island Borough
that the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy is adopted as submitted by
the Economic Development Committee; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Assembly of the Kodiak Island
Borough that the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy be submitted to the
U.S. Economic Development Administration for their review and adoption.
