2001-36 Manager Plan of Gov't to VotersWHEREAS, Alaska Statutes provide that a municipality may repeal a manager plan of government (AS 29.20.520; and WHEREAS, repeal of a manager plan of government may be commenced by petition which, when certified as sufficient by the clerk, is received by the governing body (AS 29.20.460, .470); and WHEREAS, upon receipt of such a certified petition, the governing body shall provide by ordinance or resolution for a vote on the question of repealing a manager plan (AS 29.20.470); and WHEREAS, a petition for repeal of the manager plan of government for the Kodiak Island Borough was received by the clerk on August 7, 2001 which contained a total of signatures; and WHEREAS, the clerk determined that 379 signatures were required on the petition, as 2,521 votes were cast at the October 3, 2000 election and the law requires that a petition be signed by a number of voters equal to 15% of the votes cast at the last regular election if a municipality has 7,500 or more persons (AS 29.26.130); and WHEREAS, the petition for repeal of the manager plan was certified as sufficient on August 17, 2001 with 382 signatures; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH that on the October 2, 2001 election shall be placed the following question: "Shall the manager plan of government for the Kodiak /s /and Borough be repealed ?" ATTEST; A RESOLUTION OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH PLACING BEFORE THE VOTERS AT THE OCTOBER 2, 2001 REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION THE QUESTION OF WHETHER THE MANAGER PLAN OF GOVERNMENT FOR THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH SHALL BE REPEALED ADOPTED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH THIS TWENTY FIRST DAY OF AUGUST, 2001 J ith A.
