2001-11 Support HB 105KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NO. 2001 -11 Introduced by: Deputy Mayor Heinrichs Requested by: Assemblj Drafted by: Borough Clerk Introduced: 02/15/2001 Adopted: 02/15/2001 A RESOLUTION OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH URGING THE ALASKA STATE LEGISLATURE TO SUPPORT HOUSE BILL 105 TO INCREASE THE EDUCATIONAL FORMULA FUNDING WHEREAS, Article VII Section 1 of the Constitution of the State of Alaska states that thtl legislature shall establish and maintain a system of public schools; and WHEREAS, provisions of Alaska Statutes Title 14 addresses financing of public schools through distribution of funds to school districts in the state foundation formula which has not been adjusted to adequately keep pace with annual cost of living and inflation adjustments; and WHEREAS, the current base student allocation is $3,940, which has not been adjusted; and WHEREAS, House Representatives Gary Stevens, John Harris, and Joe Hayes have introduced House Bill 105 to the Twenty- Second Alaska State Legislature that would increase the base student allocation used in the state's funding formula by an additional $145 to $4,085 per student; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY unanimously urges the Twenty- Second Alaska State Legislature to adopt House Bill 105.
