RESOLUTION NO. 99 -12
A RESOLUTION OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
OPPOSING THE CLOSURE OF THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
KODIAK KALSIN BAY ROAD CAMP
WHEREAS, the proposed funding cuts to the Alaska Department of Transportation
(ADOT) budget, as mandated by the House Finance Committee, would have a drastic
affect on the Kodiak Island Borough; and
WHEREAS, the closure of the Kodiak Kalsin Bay Road Camp would hamper travel
along the heavily -used road to Chiniak and the Kodiak Launch Complex; and
WHEREAS, there are more appropriate ADOT facilities to close that receive assistance
from more than one direction; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly encourages full funding of the Alaska
Department of Transportation in Kodiak;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH that the elimination or reduction of state funding that would close the
Alaska Department of Transportation Kodiak Kalsin Bay Road Camp is strongly
opposed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK
ISLAND BOROUGH that copies of this resolution shall be forwarded to Governor
Knowles, the Alaska State Legislature, and the Alaska Department of Transportation
administration.
ADOPTED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
