1998-05 $50K Grant to Alaska OceansA RESOLUTION APPROVING A FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLAR ($50,000) GRANT
TO THE ALASKA OCEANS, SEAS, AND FISHERIES RESEARCH FOUNDATION
WHEREAS, fisheries research is critical to the future health of the Kodiak Island
fishing industry; and
WHEREAS, the members of the fishing industry have joined together to form the
Alaska Oceans, Seas, and Fisheries Research Foundation in order to pursue funding for
additional research; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough has a strong interest in the continued health
of the fishing industry around Kodiak Island; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough has funded fisheries projects in order to
encourage the stability and growth of the Kodiak Island economy; and
WHEREAS, there has been $50,000 carried in the Kodiak Island Borough budget for
several years for fisheries development that resulted from the returned funds from the
last large fisheries project funded by the Kodiak Island Borough;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH that a grant of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) is approved for the Alaska
Oceans, Seas, and Fisheries Research Foundation for the purposes described in the
attached proposal.
