1998-04 Department of Community and Regional AffairsKODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NO. 98 -04 Introduced by: Mayor Selby Requested by: Mayor Selby Drafted by: Department of Community and Regional Affairs Introduced: 02/19/98 Adopted: 02/19/98 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING FISCAL YEAR 1999 SAFE COMMUNITIES FUNDING FROM THE STATE OF ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AND REGIONAL AFFAIRS WHEREAS, Alaska Statutes 29.60.350(b) requires the governing body of a municipality to adopt a resolution requesting safe communities funding and to submit the resolution to the Department of Community and Regional Affairs; and WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough is desirous of receiving safe communities funding; and WHEREAS, AS 29.60.350© requires that money received by a municipality under the safe communities program be used only for the following services in the following ranking of priority 1) police protection and related public safety services; 2) fire protection and emergency medical services; 3) water and sewer services not offset by user fees; 4) solid waste management; 5) other services determined by the governing body to have the highest priority; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGHthat this resolution hereby requests payment from the fiscal year 1999 safe communities program by the Department of Community and Regional Affairs and agrees to spend such payment as required by law. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH that this resolution was approved by a duly constituted quorum of the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly.
