A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A VOCATIONAL EDUCATION INCENTIVE
GRANT FOR THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH SCHOOL DISTRICT
WHEREAS, it is highly desirable that all students leave the Kodiak High School with
as many skills for a productive life as is possible, since all students, college graduate
or not, will use vocational skills throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable to provide those students not attending college with the
skills to enter the job force, especially vocational skills; and
WHEREAS, the assembly is interested in the Kodiak Island Borough School District
enhancing the Vocational Education Program at Kodiak High School; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough School District has developed a proposal that
would bring the Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) technology into the curriculum; and
WHEREAS, this technology can be brought into the curriculum for an approximate
investment of $50,000 for equipment and software; and
WHEREAS, this action is a start towards a more comprehensive vocational education
program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH that the Kodiak Island Borough School District is authorized to receive a
Vocational Education Incentive Grant not to exceed $50,000 for the purpose of
bringing the Computer Aided Drafting technology into the Kodiak High School
curriculum during the fiscal year 1998 school year.
