1997-30 Placing an Advisory Question of Increasing the Kodiak Island Borough Board of Education From Five to Seven Members on the October 7, 1997 Ballot.KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NO. 97 -30 Introduced by: Assemblymember Millig Requested by: Assemblymember Milli • . n Drafted by: Borough ' Ierk Introduced: 08 •7/97 Failed: 0: /07/97 A RESOLUTION PLACING AN ADVISORY QUESTION TO IN ' REASE THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH BOARD OF EDUCATION ' ' OM FIVE TO SEVEN MEMBERS ON THE OCTOBER 7, 1997 REGULA UNICIPAL BALLOT WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Board of Educati n has had five members since its inception; and WHEREAS, the economic and cultural diversity of a Kodiak Island Borough has been expanding in recent years; and WHEREAS, a seven member board would incre- e citizen involvement to ensure that essential educational opportunities are provi• -d by providing a vehicle for broader community involvement; and WHEREAS, the Assembly desires an a visory vote on increasing the size of the Kodiak Island Borough Board of Educa on to seven members; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLV ' BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH that: Section 1: The following adv ory question be submitted to the duly qualified voters of the Kodiak Is : nd Borough at the regular municipal election of October 7, 1997 as Preposition No. 2 on the ballot: "Shall the Kodiak /s /and = orough Board of Education be increased from five to seven members? Sect • n 2: Any person who is a qualified voter in the Kodiak Island Borough is a qualified voter with respect to the question. Kodiak Island Borough, Alaska Together with instructions as to the manner in which the ballot shall be marked. Resolution No. 97 -30 Page 1 of 2 Section 3: The procedures of said election shall be as prescribed in Alaska Stat es and Borough Code Section 4: The clerk of the Kodiak Island Borough shall cause to be publi- ed and posted a public notice of this ballot question not less than irty days prior to the election in the form and manner provided by A 29.38.050 and Title 7 of the Kodiak Island Borough Code of Ordina►ces. Section 5: As a result of the vote, the desires of those voting o the question will be known.
