A RESOLUTION CLARIFYING KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ' OLICY
RELATIVE TO ALASKA PUBLIC RECORDS LAWS D
THE DISCLOSURE OF EMPLOYEES' WAGE INFOR TION
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough is a municipality u er Alaska law and by
virtue of Alaska Statutes (AS) 09.25.220 is subject to t e provisions of Alaska's
public records laws; and
WHEREAS, according to AS 09.25.110(a), the pub c records of the borough are
open to inspection by the public under reasonable r les during regular office hours;
and
WHEREAS, AS 09.25.110(a) further provid: that the public officer having the
custody of public records shall give, on reque and payment of the standard unit cost
of duplication, a certified copy of the publ record; and
WHEREAS, AS 09.25.120(a) (4) exce
is from disclosure, to the public, records
required to be kept confidential by a deral law or regulation or by state law; and
WHEREAS, section 1101 of the •disk Island Borough Personnel Manual mentions
that personnel files are confiden 'al; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Isla • d Borough assembly has determined that release of
information concerning th- salaries paid listed by individual position titles is in the
public interest;
NOW, THEREFORE, B r IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH that:
Section 1: the ayor, or his designee, of the Kodiak Island Borough is directed to
d i : close, upon request and on payment of the standard unit cost of
uplication, information concerning individual position titles and
individual salaries of employees within the Borough without disclosing
the names of the employees who hold the positions or earn the salaries.
Sectio 2: the mayor is directed to notify all employees of this policy.

Section 3: this resolution shall take effect thirty days after adoption by the Kodia
Island Borough Assembly.
