1997-26 Requesting Safe Communities Funding From The Department of Community and Regional Affairs.KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NO. 97 -26 Introduced by: Mayor Selby Requested by: Mayor Selby Drafted: Department of Community and Regional Affairs Introduced: 07/03/97 Adopted: 07/03/97 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING SAFE COMMUNITIES FUNDING FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AND REGIONAL AFFAIRS WHEREAS, AS 29.60.350(b) requires the governing body of a municipality to adopt a resolution requesting safe communities funding and to submit the resolution to the Department of Community and Regional Affairs; and WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough is desirous of receiving safe communities funding; and WHEREAS, AS 29.60.350(c) requires that money received by a municipality under the safe communities program be used only for the following services in the following ranking of priority: ATTEST: 1) police protection and related public safety services; 2) fire protection and emergency medical services; 3) water and sewer services not offset by user fees; 4) solid waste management; 5) other services determined by the governing body to have the highest priority; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH that by this resolution hereby requests payment from the safe communities program by the Department of Community and Regional Affairs and agrees to spend such payment as required by law.
