2000-18 Amending Title 8 Health and Safety - MembershipKODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ORDINANCE NO. 2000 -18 Introduced by: Mayor Stevens Requested by: Providence Drafted by: Borough Clerk Introduced: 11/02/2000 Public Hearing: 11/02/2000 Adopted: 12/07/2000 AN ORDINANCE OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY AMENDING KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH CODE OF ORDINANCES TITLE 8 HEALTH AND SAFETY, CHAPTER 8.04 HOSPITAL AND HEALTH FACILITIES ADVISORY BOARD SECTION 8.04.010 CREATED -- MEMBERSHIP TO CLARIFY BOARD MEMBER QUALIFICATIONS WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough assembly has approved a lease agreement between the Sisters of Providence in Washington d /b /a Providence Health Care System in Alaska and the Kodiak Island Borough for lease of the Kodiak Island Hospital and Care Center; and WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough assembly has approved a lease agreement between the Sisters of Providence in Washington d /b /a Providence Health Care System in Alaska and the Kodiak Island Borough for lease of the Kodiak Island Borough Mental Health Center; and WHEREAS, these leases provide for the specific responsibilities of the Providence Kodiak Island Hospital and Health Facilities Advisory Board and the Kodiak Island Borough Mental Health Center Advisory Board; and WHEREAS, the assembly desires to amend the ordinance specifying the Hospital and Health Facilities Advisory Board member qualifications to be consistent with the Mental Health Center Advisory Board member qualifications and to be consistent with the desires of Providence; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH that: Section 1: This ordinance is of a general and permanent nature and shall become a part of the Kodiak Island Borough Code of Ordinances. Section 2: Section 8.04.010 Created -- Membership is hereby amended as follows: Chapter 8.04 Sections: HOSPITAL AND HEALTH FACILITIES ADVISORY BOARD 8.04.010 Created -- Membership. 8.04.020 Term -- Compensation. 8.04.030 Powers and duties. 8.04.040 Administrative assistance. Kodiak Island Borough, Alaska Ordinance No. 2000- 18 Page 1 of 2 8.04.010 Created -- Membership. There is created a hospital and health facilities advisory board which shall consist of nine (9) borough residents, of which seven (7) are appointed in accordance with section 2.39.030 of this code. In addition, the hospital chief -of -staff and one (1) assembly representative shall also be full voting members of the board. The majority of the board members may not be providers of direct health care services or have been providers of direct health care services for the twelve (12) months before appointment. Employees of the hospital may not be appointed to the board. The board members should be representative of the geographical and socio - economical composition of the borough. The chief -of -staff shall be selected by the medical staff and the assembly representative shall be selected by the assembly. The hospital manager shall serve as a non - voting ex- officio member of the board and the mayor may, with the concurrence of the assembly, appoint additional non - voting ex- officio members. The board shall designate its chair and conduct its meetings in accordance with chapter 2.39 of this code.
