(CITY OF OUZINKIE)
WHEREAS, the City of Ouzinkie has requested that Lots 6 through 9, Block 14, U.S.
Survey 4871 be rezoned from R1-- Single Family Residential to R2 - -Two
Family Residential, in order to provide for the construction of duplex
residential units in the community, and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Planning and Zoning Commission held a public
hearing on this rezoning; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Planning and Zoning Commission has
recommended that the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly approve this
rezoning.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND

Lots 6 through 9, Block 14, U.S. Survey 4871 is hereby rezoned from
R1-- Single Family Residential to R2 - -Two Family Residential.
The findings of the Kodiak Island Borough Planning and Zoning
Commission in recommending the approval of this rezone are hereby
confirmed as follows:
Findings as to the Need and Justification for a Change or Amendment.
A rezone of Lots 6 through 9, U.S. Survey 4871, from R -1 to R -2 is
needed and justified because the rezone will:

A. Allow for a mix of housing, supported by the 1984 City of
Ouzinkie Comprehensive Development Plan, that is not permitted
in the existing zoning district.
B. Rezone Tots that are suitable and appropriate for the type of
development permitted in the R- 2 - -Two Family Residential Zoning
District.
2. Findings as to the Effect a Change or Amendment would have on the
Objectives of the Comprehensive Plan.
A change of zoning of Lots 6 through 9, Block 14, U.S. Survey 4871
from R -1 to R -2 is consistent with the intent and objectives of the 1984
City of Ouzinkie Comprehensive Development Plan. The Plan specifically
promotes a mix of housing types to meet local needs and lifestyles. This
rezone will allow for duplex residential development in an area identified
as appropriate in the Plan.
