AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE KIB PERSONNEL RULES AND REGULATIONS
TO PROVIDE FOR BI- WEEKLY PAY PERIODS
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough currently pays
employees on a semimonthly basis; and
WHEREAS, the current payday schedule is not consistent
with a standard 40 -hour work week; and
WHEREAS, it would be more efficient and less costly to
administer a biweekly payroll; and
WHEREAS, the adoption of a biweekly payroll will not
increase payroll costs,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Kodiak Island
Borough Assembly that:
Section 1: This ordinance is of a general and permanent
nature and shall become a part of the Kodiak Island Borough
Personnel Rules and Regulations.
Section 2: Section 420, Payroll Deductions, is repealed
and reenacted to read:
420 PAYROLL PROCEDURES
It is the policy of the Kodiak Island Borough to pay
employees by check or direct deposit (as available) on a regular
basis and in a manner so that the amount, method, and timing of
such payments comply with any applicable laws or regulations.

Employees will normally be paid on Friday on a biweekly
basis. If the regular payday occurs on a holiday, employees will
be paid on the last working day prior to the regular payday.
Employees on each payday will receive, in addition to
their check or deposit advice, a statement showing gross pay,
deductions, and net pay. Local, state, federal, and Social
Security taxes will be deducted automatically. No other deductions
will be made unless required or allowed by law, contract, or
employee obligation. Employees may elect to have additional
voluntary deductions taken from their pay only if they authorize
the deductions in writing.
When an employee separates from the Borough, any wages
due shall become payable immediately and shall be paid within three
(3) working days following separation.
Section 3: This ordinance shall become effective on
December 24, 1990.
