ORDINANCE NO. 90 -37
AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING ASSEMBLY CONFIRMATION
OF THE FINANCE DIRECTOR

BE IT ORDAINED by the Assembly of the Kodiak Island
Borough that:
Section 1. This ordinance is of a general and permanent
nature and shall be codified.
Section 2. Section 2.10.010 of the Code of Ordinances is
amended as follows:
2.10.010 Appointment of Officers. The borough clerk and
attorney shall be appointed by the borough assembly. All other
officers and employees will be appointed by the mayor except that
the finance director shall also be confirmed by the assembly as
provided in Section 2.30.010. Officers serve at the pleasure of
the appointing authority.
Section 3. Section 2.30.010 of the Code of Ordinances is
amended as follows:
2.30.010 Director. The finance department shall be
headed by the director of finance who shall be ex officio borough
treasurer, borough accountant and internal auditor. The finance
director is appointed by the mayor, and confirmed by the assembly
An appointment which is not confirmed by the assembly shall not
become effective. If the assembly fails or refuses to confirm the
mayor's appointment, the mayor shall appoint successive candidates
until an appointment is confirmed by the assembly.
