AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING SMOKING IN BUILDINGS
AND OFFICES OWNED OR LEASED BY THE
KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
WHEREAS, it has been determined that smoking is hazardous
to the health of not only the smoker, but also those who breathe
the smoke second -hand; and
WHEREAS, the state and national trend is to prohibit
smoking in public areas;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Kodiak Island
Borough Assembly that:
Section 1. 'Etiis ordinance is of a general and permanent
nature and shall become a part of the Code of Ordinances.
Section 2. Title 8, Health and Safety, is amended by
adding a new Chapter to read:
Sections:
Chapter 8.25
PROHIBITION OF SMOKING
8.25.010 Smoking prohibited.
8.25.020 No smoking signs posted.
8.25.010 Smoking prohibited. Smoking is prohibited in
all buildings and offices owned or leased by the Kodiak Island
Borough at all times.

8.25.020 No smoking signs posted. The mayor shall cause
notices to be posted and maintained throughout the Borough
Buildings.
