1987-35 Adding Section 3.32.020 Motor Vehicle Registration Tax Allocation to the KIB CodeKODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ORDINANCE NO. 87 -35 -0 AN ORDINANCE OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY ADDING SECTION 3.32.020, MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION TAX, ALLOCATION WHEREAS, under the provisions of AS 29.10.431(f) the Kodiak Island Borough is required to allocate the money received for motor vehicle registration tax for city, area outside the city and service area purposes within the borough; and WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough is annually in receipt via the State of Alaska of some $160,000; and WHEREAS, the greatest annual expenditure of the Kodiak Island Borough is for schools and the education of our children; and WHEREAS, the location of the preponderance of vehicles closely parallel that of the residence of our children and the location of our schools; and WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough consistently contributes more than the total property tax effort to our school district: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly that: Section 1. This ordinance is of a general and permenant ,nature and shall become a part of the Code of Ordinances. Section 2. Chapter 3.32 is amended by adding a new section 3.32.020 Allocation. The use of the annual motor vehicle registration tax is allocated to the area wide school system. Section 3. This ordinance takes effect upon adoption.
