MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION TAX,
1 I WHEREAS, under the provisions of AS 28.10.431(f) the Kodiak Island
I
rI Borough is required to allocate the money received for motor vehicle
I,
g registration tax for city, area outside city, and service area purposes within I
the borough; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough is annually in receipt via the

I' State of Alaska of some $160,000; and
WHEREAS, the greatest annual expenditure of the Kodiak Island
Borough is for schools and the education of our children; and
WHEREAS, the location of the preponderance of vehicles closely
t parallel that of the residence of our children and the location of our
11 schools; and

WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough consistently contributes more
it then the total property tax effort to our school district.

iI NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, that the use of the annual motor
it

vehicle registration tax is hereby allocated to the area wide school system
I which is included in the current budget (i.e., this is not an additional
II allocation, but rather a statement of use of these funds)
i� BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that these funds have been so allocated and
i i used for the same purpose since the inception of this program in 1980.
