ORDINANCE NO. 87 -12 -0
AN ORDINANCE OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY REVISING
TITLE 13 OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH CODE PERTAINING TO UTILITIES.
WHEREAS, Kodiak Island Borough Code Section 13.01.020 contains a general
definition for "single- family unit" which does not take into consideration special
conditions; and
WHEREAS, no provision is made in Title 13 for administrative adjustment of
water service classes, or residential sewer service class, in special conditions;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly:
Section 1: This ordinance is of a general and permanent nature and shall become
a part of the code of the Kodiak Island Borough.
Section 2: Chapter 13.01 is hereby amended as follows:
13.01.020 Definitions. As used in this chapter, the following definition
shall apply:
A. "Commercial" means a premises used for commercial or business
purpose and discharging a quality of sewage essentially similar to that of
a single- family dwelling.
B. "Industrial" means a premises used for manufacturing or industrial
purposes which discharges industrial waste, sanitary waste, and sewage by
reason of the manufacturing or industrial process involved, or discharges
chemicals or putrescible materials.
C. "Service unit" means a unit of measure which is equal to the sewer
usage of an average single - family unit which, for the purpose of this
chapter, is determined to be that of a single- family unit whose average water
consumption is seven thousand five hundred gallons per month, such unit
being used to equate the sewer usage of a commercial customer to a
residential customer[.1 or ecial residential uses to a single - family unit.
D. "Single-family unit" means a dwelling unit designed, improved, or
used as a residence for one family only. Each unit in a multiple- family
dwelling or each trailer or mobile home not in a mobile home park shall
be a dwelling unit. The average water usage of a single - family unit, for
the uses of this cha ter, is determined to be seven thousand five
hundred gall ons per month.
I Section 3: Section 13.02.07 is hereby added as follows:

A. The monthl ch a. a for water service shall be at the rates
ATTEST:
by resolution of the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly.
B. In any case where circumstances indicate that an appropriate rate
has not been set by resolution, the borough engineer or his designee may
adjust the number of units of usage, based upon the actual annual water
usage, at one unit per each seven thousand five hundred gallons, or portion
thereof.
Section 4: This Ordinance becomes effective upon passage.
