AN ORDINANCE OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY ADOPTING
NON - AREAWIDE POWERS TO PROVIDE FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
WHEREAS, Title 29 of the Alaska State Statutes has recently been
revised to permit second class boroughs to provide for economic development on
a non - areawide basis; and
WHEREAS, The Kodiak Island Borough has established a Kodiak Economic
Development Commission to "assist the Mayor and Assembly in developing a local
economy which meets the needs, desires and goals of the community;" and
WHEREAS, it is in the interest of Borough residents that the Kodiak
Island Borough be able to provide for economic development on a non - areawide
basis.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that the Kodiak Island Borough
Assembly hereby:
Section 1: Adopts non - areawide powers to provide for economic
development.
Section 2: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon
passage and adoption.
