AN ORDINANCE OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY ESTABLISHING THE
KODIAK CONSOLIDATED FIRE PROTECTION SERVICE AREA TO PERFORM THE F
GOVERNMENTAL SERVICE: FIRE SUPPRESSION AND PROTECTION AND EMERGEN MEDICAL
SERVICES AND FOR AN ELECTION TO BE HELD FOR THAT PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, there currently exists three fire departure s providing
service to the city of Kodiak and the surrounding area; and
WHEREAS, in order to provide maximum service at mi
advantageous to eliminate needless duplication of equipmek4
and support costs, and C,

WHEREAS, Alaska Statute 29.35.3 : ables the Kodiak Island Borough
to propose this acquisition and consolidayb of non areawide powers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAIn • the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly
Section 1: A service ar o be known as Kodiak Consolidated Fire
Protection Service Area be and t -- e is hereby established to provide fire
protection for the area lying an eing within the boundaries of the Kodiak
Island Borough and more particularl described as follows:
The parcel of land, less ose portions encompassed by the U.S. Coast
Guard Base, Kodiak but cec ding the Kodiak State Airport:

Secl : An election shall be held on Tuesday, October 2, 1986,
between the Yieti(r- of 7 :00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. of said date and there shall be
submitted t� duly qualified residents and voters of the area described the
question:

Section 3: A person who is qualified to vote in Alas - and
Kodiak Island Borough and who is a resident of the area descri• -d in this
ordinance may vote in the election.
Section 4: The polling place for this election will b- all precincts
in the described area including the Womens Bay, Mission Rot42 -nd all City of
Kodiak precincts.
Section 5: Notice of the election shall be 1:13 not less than
thirty days prior to the election in the form and manner p..vided by
AS 29.38.050 and Title 2 of the Kodiak Island Borough •ode of Ordinance and
Resolutions.
Section 6: Upon passage of the propo ,io` to establish the Kodiak
Consolidated Fire Protection Service Area by the qua ified voters of that area
and upon certification of said election, this ordi -nce shall become effective
July 1, 1987.
