1981-65 Amending Number of Members of the Bells Flats-Russian Creek Advisory Board from Five Members to Seven Members1
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING NUMBER OF MEMBERS OF THE BELLS FLATS - RUSSIAN
CREEK ADVISORY BOARD FROM FIVE MEMBERS TO SEVEN MEMBERS.
WHEREAS, at the General Municipal Election held on October 6, 1981,
the residents of the Bells Flats - Russian Creek Service District voted and
approved the following proposition: "Shall the Kodiak Island Borough exercise
fire protection powers within the Bells Flats - Russian Creek Service District ? ",
and
WHEREAS, in that this will entail additional duties for the Bells Flats -
Russian Creek Advisory Board, they have requested the Borough Assembly to
enlarge the ;Risting five member advisory board to a seven member advisory
board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that Section 4.30.010 relating to the
Bells Flats - Russian Creek Service Area is hereby amended to allow for the
exercise of fire protection powers in addition to road services.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the present five member board is hereby
enlarged to seven members, consisting of residents of the Bells Flats - Russian
Creek Service Area for the purpose of supervising and furnishing special services
,within the district for both road services and fire protection. The two
additional members will be appointed by the Borough Mayor and ratified by the
Borough Assembly until the next General Municipal election, at which time these
seats will be placed on the ballot to be filled by election as per Chapter 4.15
of the Borough Code.
