1981-52 Adopting Names and Renaming Certain Streets Within the KIBs
KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
ORDINANCE NO. 81 -52 -0
AN ORDINANCE OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY ADOPTING NAMES
AND RE- NAMING CERTAIN STREETS WITHIN THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH.
WHEREAS, The Kodiak Island Borough Planning and Zoning Commission
'has studied the names of streets and roads within the community since January
!' of 1980; and
WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission has solicited comments
from the public by way of public hearing, posting of a map for public viewing,
and newspaper advertisements; and
WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission has found that there
are streets within the community with duplicate names and similar sounding names
which create confusion, and others that appear to have never been named; and
WHEREAS, the Commission has recommended name changes to avoid
duplication and names to identify previously unnamed streets; and
WHEREAS, this action will assist all citizens of the community in
'providing identification for all roads within the community; and
WHEREAS, this action will assist fire, police, and ambulance person -
nel in their efforts to respond to emergencies, thereby better protecting the
public health and general welfare.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly
that the Kodiak Island Borough adopts the changes herein indicated based upon
the Commission's recommendations, street naves shown on Official Zoning Map
Number 2 of the Kodiak urban area, dated August 1979, Official Zoning Map Number
3 of the Bells Flats- Russian Creek area, dated November 1979, and on recorded
plats;
SECTION 1: The following existing streets are hereby defined as extending from
point to point, as indicated below:
A. REZANOFF DRIVE extends from the entrance to Fort Abercrombie
State Park to the end of State Department of Transportation
maintenance at Cape Chiniak.
B. JACKSON LANE extends from Mission Road to the common boundary
of U.S. Survey 3099 and U.S. Survey 3233 between lots 24A, 24B,
and 24C of U.S. Survey 3099 and lot 25, U.S. Survey 3099.
