ORDINANCE NUMBER 75 -25 -0
AN ORDINANCE OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY
CHANGING THE DATE OF THE 1975 GENERAL ELECTION
WHEREAS, the proposed reapportionment plan for the
Assembly of the Kodiak Island Borough was presented to the
voters of the Borough at a Special Election on August 5, 1975,
and
WHEREAS, the canvas of the votes indicated that the
proposed plan passed within the City of Kodiak but failed
in the area outside the City of Kodiak, and
WHEREAS, the Assembly of the Kodiak Island Borough by
Resolution Number 75 -33 -R passed at the special meeting of
August 27, 1975, requested the Department of Community &
Regional Affairs to reapportion the Kodiak Island Borough
Assembly due to the fact that adequate time does not exist
to permit the borough assembly to promulgate an ordinance
establishing an alternate reapportionment plan and submit the
plan to the voters of the Kodiak Island Borough prior to the
expiration of the six month period on September 6, 1975, and
WHEREAS, the Department of Community and Regional
Affairs has indicated that they will require public hearings
to be held on the matter both in the City of Kodiak and in
several of the communities in the outlying areas, and
WHEREAS, in order to permit timely notice of election
and petitioning of candidates it has been determined that
the regular election date of October 7th, 1975, shall be
changed to November 4th, 1975.

WHEREAS, to allow sufficient time for candidates to obtain petitions
I and secure the necessary signatures, the deadline for filing of petitions
shall be October 10, 1975, 9:00 a.m.

to change the polling place of the Mission Road ( #7) Precinct due to the
iltraffic problems, the polling place for the General Election November 4,

1975, shall be the Community College Administration Building.
The Kodiak Island Borough Assembly hereby ordains;
It the General Election for 1975 for the positions of School Board Members,
Borough Mayor and Borough Assemblymen and any propositions to be placed
before the voters at the general election shall be held on Novanber 4, 1975,
and the same time requirements for posting of notices shall apply as to
the regular election.
