1974-33 Authorizing Sales Tax Question on the Election Ballot1 1 1 n , > 2 4 ' AN ORDINANCE OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY ADTHORIZIlVG THE QUE9FICN OF A BOROUGH AREAWIDE SALES TAX TO BE PLACED CN THE OCICBER CAL ELECTION BALLOP WHEREAS, the Borough Assembly and City Council have reviewed the Tax Study as y prepared by Foster & Marshall and, WHEREAS, determination has been made that an areawide sales tax of 1% is in the best interest of the Borough, and WHEREAS, such levy would insure a more equitable taxation of the entire borough population, IT IS ORDAINED, that the question: "Shall the Kodiak Island Borough initiate a one - percent areawide sales tax ?" be placed on the October 1, 1974, general election ballot. It is further ordained, that a second reading and public hearing shall be held on the question of an areawide sales tax and on the establishmOpt of any exemptions, Notice of said hearing shall be given by publication in the Kodiak Mirror at least seven (7) days prior to the public hearing. After the public hearing the Assembly shall make the determination of whether or not the question of an areawide sales tax shall be placed on the general ballot along with the accepted exemptions.
