AN ORDINANCE OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RELATING
TO THE INTERPRETATION AND APPLICATION OF PROVISIONS OF THE
KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH CODE OF ORDINANCES
The Kodiak Island Borough Assembly hereby ordains:
*Section 1. That Section 12 of Chapter 1 of the Kodiak
Island Borough Code of Ordinances is repealed and re- enacted
to read:
Section 12. Definitions: As used in the Ordinances
and resolutions of the Kodiak Island Borough, unless the
context otherwise requires:
(1) "borough" means the Kodiak Island Borough.
(2) "law" includes ordinances of the borough.
(3) "oath" means an oath, or an affirmation in all
cases where by law an affirmation may be sub-
mitted for an oath, and in such case the words
"swear" and "sworn" shall be equivalent to the
words "affirm" and "affirmed ".
(4) "owner" as applied to a building or land, means
an owner, part owner, tenant in common or tenant
by the entirety of the whole or part of the land
or building.
(5) "person" means a corporation, partnership, firm,
association, organization, business, trust or
society as well as a natural person.
(6) "presiding officer" means the presiding officer
appointed by the assembly or his authorized
designee.
(7) "registered mail" means registered or certified
mail.
*Section 2. That Chapter 1 of the Kodiak Island Borough
Code of Ordinances is amended by adding a new section to read:
Section 13. Scope of Prohibitions. When an
ordinance of the borough prohibits an act or an ommission,

it shall be construed to prohibit causing, aiding, abetting or
concealing the fact of the act or =mission.
*Section 3. That Section 9 of Chapter 1 of the Kodiak
Island Borough Code of Ordinances is amended by adding a
new section to read:
C. When any ordinance repealing a former ordinance,
section or provision is itself repealed, the repeal does not
revive the former ordinance, section or provision, unless
it is expressly so provided.
