AN ORDINANCE OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY
TABLISHING A SERVICE AREA TO BE KNOWN AS THE KARLUK RURAL FIRE
OTECTION DISTRICT
BE IT ORDAINED by the Borough Assembly of the Kodiak
Island Borough as follows:
Section 1. The Karluk Rural Fire Protection District
is hereby created as a service area to provide fire protection,
pursuant to Section 07.15.050 of the Alaska Statutes.
Section 2. The area encompassed in the Karluk Rural
Fire Protection District is as follows:
"Beginning at a point on Cape Karluk at 57 034'48" N
Latitude, 154 °30' W Longitude, as shown on C &GS
Chart No. 8541; thence South along 154 030' W
Longitude to 57 033'36" N Latitude; thence East to
154 °25' W Longitude; thence North to 57 035'12" N
Latitude, a point on the shore of the Karluk
Anchorage; thence meandering the shoreline of the
Karluk Anchorage and Tanglefoot Bay first in a
Southwesterly direction, thence Westerly thence
Northwesterly to the point of beginning.
Section 3. The Assembly of the Kodiak Island Borough
shall act as the Supervisory Board of the Karluk Rural Fire
Protection District until such time as an election is held in
the above - described service area, and the voters voting on the
question approve delegation of the power to an appointed or
elected board; however, the Borough Assembly may appoint an
advisory board in the service area composed of not less than
three (3) individuals to serve in an advisory capacity to them
until such election is held.
Section 4. The Borough Chairman will prepare a
budget for the service area and make application for any shared
revenues to which the service district or service area may be
