AN ORDINANCE OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY
ESTABLISHING A SERVICE AREA TO BE KNOWN AS THE AKHIOK RURAL FIRE
PROTECTION DISTRICT
BE IT ORDAINED by the Borough Assembly of the Kodiak
ilsland Borough as follows:
Section 1. The Akhiok Rural Fire Protection District
is hereby created as a service area to provide fire protection,
,pursuant to Section 07.15.050 of the Alaska Statutes.
Section 2. The area encompassed in the Akhiok Rural
(Fire Protection District is as follows:
"Beginning at a point in Kempff Bay known as Pryor
Point at approximately 56 °55'50" N Latitude,
154 °12'30" W Longitude as shown on C &GS Chart No.
8537; thence in a Northwesterly direction at about
3100 to a point on the North shore of Kempff Bay
at approximately 56 °56'30" N Latitude, 154 °13' W
Longitude; thence North to 56058' N Latitude;
thence East to 154 009' W Longitude, opposite a point
on Miller Island; thence meandering the shoreline of
Akhiok Bay in a Southeasterly direction to the point
of beginning. The area above described encompassing
Sections 20 and 21 and portions of Sections 22, 23,
27 and 28 of Township 37 South Range 31 West Seward
Meridian to be known as the Akhiok Rural Fire
Protection District."
Section 3. The Assembly of the Kodiak Island Borough
shall act as the Supervisory Board of the Akhiok Rural Fire
Protection District until such time as an election is held in
the above - described service area, and the voters voting on the
question approve delegation of the power to an appointed or
elected board; however, the Borough Assembly may appoint an
advisory board in the service area composed of not less than
three (3) individuals to serve in an advisory capacity to them
until such election is held.
Section 4. The Borough Chairman will prepare a
budget for the service area and make application for any shared

revenue& to which the service district or service area may be
entitled under the provisions of Alaska Statutes.
