1970-08 Establishing the Date of the Special Election0 0 1 1 1 2 2 1 JMDIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ORDINANCE NO. 70 -8 -0 AN ORDINANCE OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY PURSUANT TO SECTION 07.30.020 (D) OF THE ALASKA STATUTES ESTABLISHING TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 1970 A ATE FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE L FOR THE ELECTION OF BOROUGH ASSEMBLYMXN; SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS AND FOR VOTING ON ANY OTHER MATTER THAT MAY COME BEFORE THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY ON THAT DATE IN LIEU OF THE REGULAR ELECTION SCHEDULED TO BE HELD ON THE FIRST TUESDAY OF OCTOBER. BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly that Tuesday, the 3rd day of November, 1970 be and the same is hereby established as the date on which a Special Election be held within the Kodiak Island Borough for the purpose of electing a -{�} Borough Assemblyman and tw& 4 School Board Members and permitting the qualified voters of the Kodiak Island Borough to vote on any other matter that may properly come before them on that date in lieu of the Regular Election normally scheduled to be held on the first Tuesday of October. WHEREAS, Section 07.30.020 of the Alaska Statutes provides that the date of the Regular Election for the Assembly and School Board is the same as that for the Council in the largest first -class city within the Borough or on the first Tuesday of October every three (3) years and WHEREAS, the City of Kodiak regularly has its Election for Council Members on the first Tuesday of October but due to the fact that there is scheduled a General Election to be held on the 3rd day of November, 1970, the City Council of the City of Kodiak has scheduled their regular Municipal Election for the 3rd day of November and WHEREAS, it would be more convenient for the Borough to hold its election on the same date as the City and less costly and would permit more time for the filing of candidates for the positions of Assemblymen and School Board before the date of Election.
