Lorna Arndt wanted to see the road paved. She stressed "conformance" and said it would be a shame if property owners were deprived of R -2 zoning. Jo Ure opposed the rezone. She wanted the roads paved and noted the lack of street lights. Craig Olson was opposed because he felt access was too limited and people needed more space. Mayor Stevens closed the public hearing and reconvened the regular meeting. Assemblymember Razo said the Planning and Zoning Commission labored for eight months and through three public hearings to make a decision. He felt the rezone was appropriate. In response to Assemblymember Heinrichs, Bob Scholze, Community Development Acting Director, outlined the specific parking requirement, limited lot sizes, and population density. Assemblymember Abell felt the rezone would increase property values. Assemblymember Bonney felt the rezone would create conformity that was good for the neighborhood.
