1983-128 Ratifying And Confirming The Results Of The October 4, 1983 Regular Election.KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NUMBER 83 -128 -R A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY RATIFYING AND CONFIRMING THE RESULTS OF THE OCTOBER 4, 1983 REGULAR ELECTION. WHEREAS, Pursuant to Law, the Kodiak Island Borough held a Regular Municipal Election in the Borough on Tuesday, the 4th day of October, 1983, at which time candidates for the following offices to be filled were voted on: One (1) Borough Mayor for a two -year term; Two (2) Borough Assemblymen for three -year terms; Two (2) School Board Members one for a three -year term and one for a one -year unexpired term; Two (2) Bells Flats- Russian Creek Service Area Advisory Board Members for three -year terms; Two (2) Mill Bay- Island Lake - Spruce Cape Service Area Advisory Board Members for three -year terms; Two (2) Mill Bay - Island Lake - Spruce Cape Service Area Advisory Board members for one -year unexpired terms; One (1) Fire Protection Area Number One Advisory Board members for a three -year term; One (1) Fire Protection Area Number One Advisory Board member for a two -year unexpired term; Two (2) Monashka Bay Road Service District Advisory Board members for three -year terms; Two - 2) Monashka Bay Road Service District Advisory Board members for two -year terms; and One (1) Monashka Bay Road Service District Advisory Board member for a one -year tern, and WHEREAS, the returns of said election have been delivered to and canvassed by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly; Section 1: That the Assembly finds and hereby ratifies and declares the results of the Regular Municipal Election held within the Kodiak Island Borough on Tuesday, October 4, 1983 to be as follows: THAT for the position of Mayor for a two -year tern, the following votes were cast: THAT, JAMES E. PEOTTER received 874 votes; JEROME SELBY received 1,091 votes, and 16 miscellaneous write -in votes were cast, Therefore, it is declared that JEROME SELBY has been elected. THAT for the position of Assemblymen for three -year terms, the following votes were cast: THAT TROY E. ALLEN received 103 votes; SCOTT ARNOT received 504 votes; ANN BARKER received 914 votes; WILLIAM H. BULEN received V 4699 votes; HANK EATON received 641 VUteb, ED HANE iA.rt� received 40 Y , votes; EDWARD F. NAUGHTON received 788 votes, and 8 miscellaneous write -in votes were cast, Therefore, it is declared that ANN BARKER and EDWARD F. NAUGHTON have been elected. • THAT for the position of School Board Member for a three -year term, the following votes were cast: THAT LOUISE COLLINS received 687 votes; JUDY TERESA FULP re- r , 1 ^ 1 ceived 905 votes; BARBARA B. TODD received 368 votes, and 6 miscella- neous write -in votes were cast, Therefore, it is hereby declared that JUDY TERESA FULP has been elected for the three -year seat. That for the position of a one -year unexpired term the follow- ing votes were cast: THAT A. JAY HULL received 226 votes; ALICE KNOWLES received 873 votes; ROBERTA LOCHMAN received 852 votes, and 3 miscellaneous write -in vote were cast, Therefore, it is declared that ALICE KNOWLES has been elected. THAT for the positions of Service District Advisory Board for the Bells Flats- Russian Creek Service Area three -year terms, the follow- ing votes were cast: MELVIN W. KORTLEVER received 66 votes; JAMES L. RIPPEY re- ceived 18 write -in votes, and there were 25 miscellaneous write -in votes cast, Therefore, it is hereby declared that MELVIN W. KORTLEVER and JAMES L. RIPPEY were elected. THAT for the positions of Mill Bay - Island Lake - Spruce Cape Service Area Advisory Board Members for three -year terms, the following votes were cast: SCOTT ARNDT received 163 votes; JAMES POULOS, JR. received 235 votes and 20 miscellaneous write -in votes were cast, Therefore, SCOTT ARNDT and JAMES POULOS, JR. were elected. THAT for the positions of Mill Bay - Island Lake - Spruce Cape Service Area Advisory Board Members for one -year unexpired terms: PATRICIA SZABO received 259 votes; BAINE CATER received 7 write -in votes; ED VANFLEET received 6 write -in votes and 28 other miscellaneous votes were cast, Therefore, it is declared that PATRICIA SZABO AND BAINE CATER were elected. THAT for the position of Fire Protection Area Number One Ad- visory Board Members for a three -year term, the following votes were cast: BILL WEVER received 357 votes and 8 miscellaneous write -in votes were cast, Therefore, it is declared that BILL WEVER has been elected for the three -year term. THAT for the positions of Fire Protection Area Number One Advisory Board Member for a two -year unexpired term, the following votes were cast: HORACE SIMMONS received 326 votes and 21 miscellaneous write - in votes were cast, Therefore, it is declared that HORACE SIMMONS was elected. THAT for the positions of Monashka Bay Road Service District Advisory Board members for the three -year terms the following votes were cast: BILL SWEARINGIN received 50 votes; MIKE KILLEN received 3 write -in votes and 11 other miscellaneous write -in votes were cast, Therefore, it is declared that BILL SWEARINGIN and MIKE KILLEN were elected. THAT for the positions of Monashka Bay Road Service District Advisory Board member for the two -year terms the following votes were cast: ROGER BLACKETT received 3 write -in votes; SHAWN DILLON received 3 write -in votes and 17 other miscellaneous votes were cast, Therefore, it is declared that ROGER BLACKETT and SHAWN DILLON were elected. THAT for the position Monashka Bay Road Service District Advisory Board member for the one -year term 11 miscellaneous votes were cast; however, no -one received more than 1 write -in vote each, except for one party, who declined the office. Therefore, it is declared that no -one was elected. PASSED AND APPROVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly on this 13th day of October 1983.
