KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
RESOLUTION NO. 83 -113 -R
A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY COMMENDING R.
DAVID HERRNSTEEN FOR HIS EFFORTS ON BEHALF OF THE RESIDENTS OF THE KODIAK
ISLAND BOROUGH.
WHEREAS, R. David Herrnsteen served the residents of the Kodiak
Island Borough as an Assemblyman from October of 1979 to October of 1981; and
WHEREAS, R. David Herrnsteen continued to serve the residents of the
Kodiak Island Borough as Mayor from October of 1981 to October of 1983; and
WHEREAS, during his terms in office, the Kodiak Island Borough has
accomplished many things for the residents of the Borough, including:
1. The planning and development of educational facilities throughout
the Borough;
2. The responsible revision of Borough ordinances;
3. The development of neighborhood parks in the Borough;
4. The construction of playgrounds in the villages of the Borough;
5. The establishment of effective communication between the fishing and
oil industries, through work with the Kodiak Island Borough OCS
Advisory Council and as an alternate member of the Alaska Coastal
Policy Council; and
WHEREAS, R. David Herrnsteen has successfully and willingly repre-
sented the Borough on statewide advisory boards, commissions, and as an
individual spokesman for the residents of the Borough; and
WHEREAS, R. David Herrnsteen has provided the opportunity and
,encouraged residents to participate in local government; and
WHEREAS, the terms of R. David Herrnsteen were characterized as
cooperative, open, fair, and responsive; and
WHEREAS, R. David Herrnsteen has distinguished himself as not only a
fisherman, and a hard and willing worker, but as a responsible and responsive
community leader.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island Borough
!Assembly commends and applauds the tireless efforts of R. David Herrnsteen on
behalf of all the residents of the Kodiak Island Borough.
